Athletes’ Advisory Committee Mission Statement
The Athletes’ Advisory Committee (AAC) is an active community built within the Essex Skating Club that emphasizes and increases athlete teamwork, spirit, cooperation, and participation in the Club.
AAC Role In ESC
We stand as a subdivision of the national Athletes’ Advisory Committee of the United States Figure Skating Association. The role of the committee is to address and brainstorm improvements to the surrounding community, whether that be outside community service or in the club. In addition, issues suggested by the Club’s Board of Trustees are addressed (in an attempt to improve aspects concerning the club). Suggestions are collected throughout the year and will be discussed at Board meetings.
The Athletes’ Advisory Committee stands as a liaison between the club’s Board of Trustees and the skaters. The AAC will work closely with Board while planning events and help to enlarge a sense of community. It is the goal of the AAC to take an active role in the Club. Committee members will delegate tasks, earn valuable leadership skills, and learn how to facilitate communication in an organization. The skills learned will be used in college and professional careers. Members are looked up to by younger skaters and are leaders within the club. Members between the ages of 13 and 21 are highly encouraged to apply!
